Stay home and enjoy some beer while hanging out with your fish! That's what I plan to do in NY.
I will be. My concern right now is the ice. I have to be at work at 6am Monday morning. There is no calling out at a hospital. I expect you are getting snow up there. I can drive on snow. We are getting sleet and ice. 🤮

Do they give you a code 4 like my nurse girlfriend gets. She has to work too. Will probably take my truck. I have to work but have a shorter commute.

The ice is the worst. 4wd or not, it's rough.

Getting a few additional 5 gallon gas cans gives you a lot more security as well.

In the Ice Storm of 98 in Maine we had over an inch and a half of icing. In a state of 1.237 million people, 900,000 people had no power. In Lewiston and Auburn, towns, side by side with a combined population of over 50,000, At one point there were only 3 gas stations that had power to pump gasoline out of the ground…

Within a few days more stations were open, but this experience led me to store more gallons of gasoline. I used to only have a 3 gallon gas cans figuring I would just drive to the gas station down the road as needed…

I would not want to be starting an outage with less than 15 gallons on hand.

During that Ice Storm, the majority of people in town were without power for at least a week and up to two weeks.

Some people were out for up to 3 weeks. Surrounding towns were out for 4-6 weeks…

Power companies prioritized those repairs which would be largest amount of people brought back on…

We have a duel fuel habor freight inverter generator 5000.

It works a treat for us. We also have a wood stove in the family room. Just that will keep that warm toasty warm.

The generator can run all two of the tanks, the fw is just 10g.

I've had neo shrimp go down to 50 f without any losses.

The duel fuel is great. Run on propane and gas. Between that it can go a long time without shutting down.

We also have a manual well pump (very old) that still pumps out some fresh nice mountain water.

Well. This morning my local forecast here in Maine was for 1-2 inches of snow Sunday night into Monday.

There has been a little revision to that…

Just on wmtw.com calling for 12-18 inches now….

I just read an online article on how to stay warm in your home during a power outage

It warned not to try to keep your house warm with a stove….

“It may be tempting, but do not use your stove or oven to heat your home. Gas ovens can pose a dangerous carbon monoxide risk that can lead to poisoning or death, while electric ovens can be a fire hazard and can melt knobs or ignite nearby flammable items.””

Somehow, I dont think many people will be trying to use an electric oven to heat their house if the electric power goes out…
